COMING
SOON TO 2010...
August 20th (evening do)-
RACE NIGHT
As part of our fund raising season, the Horse and Groom public house, Beacon Rd, Wibsey has offered to hold a race night. If you haven't been to one before then basically it is this..
Players can bet on random races (maybe horse, dogs or snails) which are picked from sealed envelopes and played on a big screen. If your number wins, so do you. Simple!
Before the night you will also have the chance to back a certain horse (or sheep/camel) to manage. Should your horse win, you will win a special prize (maybe champagne - wait and see!).
There will be food available on the night and for those of you who might be interested 'DRINK'. So raid your penny jar and have a flutter as the proceedings will be going towards the club funds for equipment.
As usual, for the event to be successful it needs all of you to be there. If you don't drink or gamble this is still a good social occasion and will be brilliant for team moral before the bagathon. So please bring along family and friends both young and old (kids are allowed). The more the merrier.
August 30th/31st- These will be our last ever training sessions at Park Lane High in Halifax and Fitness Finesse in Bradford. All our future sessions will take place in our very own dojo which is located on the Royds Enterprise Park, Bradford. Please check the TIMES AND LOCATIONS page to view changes in lesson times and directions for our address. The new venue re launches on the 4th September with the Fusion Bagathon II. See below for details.
September 4th midday till 5pm -
THE FUSION KICKBOXING RE-OPENING AND BAGATHON II
A fund raising event will be held at the new Bradford dojo on royds Enterprise Park. Each Fusion student will be able to take part in the sponsored event that is scheduled to last over 4 hours. Last years bagathon was divided between four teams, each of which were successful in keeping two punch bags working constantly. This year we will be attempting to beat that and do it with three!
The money raised will be divided between The Fusion kickboxing and any charity of the highest fundraiser's choice. Hopefully, we can all do our bit to raise enough money to buy new equipment for our dojo at the same time as helping out a nominated charity.
This won't be an easy task which is why every student must do their best to seek out as many sponsors as possible. But I'm sure you will agree this will be nothing compared to the 6 weeks of intensive training we will all have to endure, preparing for the event.
Sponsorship forms will be handed out shortly and students will be urged to collect as many donations as possible, even if they are unable to take part themselves. As well as the Bagathon, there will also be various stalls and games to try your luck with, making it an entertaining afternoon out for the whole family.
In the run up to the event, The Fusion kickboxing will be seeking as much media coverage as possible. This could be the perfect opportunity for companies wishing to sponsor the event to grab some free advertising. We will also be looking for prize donations from anyone with anything interesting to offer. Anyone wishing to do so should speak to Nick or Michelle at the club or CONTACT US
So please arrange your time so that you are available for the bagathon. This will be the most important day on the Fusion calendar this year. It is crucial that YOU the student will do your bit to support YOUR CLUB (and possibly your charity if you're the highest fund raiser).
DONT JUST SAY YOU ARE LOYAL . . . PROVE IT !

2010's
NEWS...
July 18th - Congratulations to all the Fusion students who passed their colour belt grading today. First class passes were awarded to James, Ross and Heidi. Well done to you all.
May - Heidi Bond was this months best attendee and as a result, bagged herself an hours private lesson for FREE.
May 23rd - A hot and sweaty colour belt grading was endured today on what was one of the hottest days of the year so far. Despite the soaring temperatures all of the students were successful with Lee, Paul and Ben earning a first class pass.
May 9th - A excited bunch from the Fusion went wild around Alton towers. Apart from the fact, that every ride appeared to break down just as we got to the front of the queue, we otherwise had a brilliant time.
Everyone managed to keep their hotdog's and doughnuts down, the sun kept on shining and nobody got lost. So all in all it was a good day, especially showing off our mole hands for the oblivion cameras.
April 21st - Alex Newby was presented with a certificate for continued improvement and dedication. This comes as a result of her impressive training during lessons and a 'never say die' attitude at competitions, despite being up against bigger and stronger opponents. Alex is constantly showing what the martial arts spirit is all about.
March 6th - The Fusion Bradford held a colour belt grading. The highest belt taken was the purple and white by Alex and Jacob, who both passed with a first class score. Well done to all the other students who made it to their next grade too. Two students were late to their exam and as a result FAILED. Can all students please ensure that you arrive early for future grading's.
After the grading we made off the the Leisure Exchange Bowling alley to celebrate. The food wasn't up to much but the bowling was very competitive. Usman and Phil racked up the joint highest score of the day (Usman did have the bumpers up though) followed by Will who was a close third. Check out the photos on the GALLERIES page.

Fusion students took their colour belt grading today.
Congratulations to Brandon, Paul S, Phil, Paul N,
Lee, Daniel and Josh on receiving your next belt.
November
14th - The
CLASH OF THE TITANS XXIII was held at the Huddersfield
Sports Centre. Sensei Nick formed part of 'Team Shorai'
along with nine other fighters. The team made it to
the finals of one of the biggest 'clashes' ever; named
the champion of champions, but unfortunately missed
out on claiming the title by only two fights (one
of which was forfeited due to an injury).
The
battles were tough but still Sensei Nick won his first
fight within the first 33 seconds with an impressive
KO against the Colne Valley Black Belt Academy. Unfortunately
he wasn't as successful in the second round against
TAGB World Champion Warren Vice.
Once
again the fighters would like to express their gratitude
to the screaming spectators for their continuous support
and we hope that you all enjoyed the show as much
as we did.
7th
November -
After his return from the World Championships,
Sensei Nick got an honorable mention in the
sports section of the Halifax courier.
|
October
27th to November 3rd - Sensei
Nick competed at the WKA World Championships in Punta
Umbria, Spain.
He
won his first light continuous fight against another
English fighter but unfortunately lost his second in
the quarter finals, against a fighter from Scotland.
September
26th - A Brown and Black Belt
grading took place at The Fusion in Bradford. Well
done to everyone who took part and passed. A special
mention goes to Sophie Sullivan who became the first
female Black Belt to have been home grown from The
Fusion and also the youngest ever to have done so.
A further Congratulations to Sensei Adam for attaining
his 2nd Dan and Sensei Nick for attaining his 3rd
Dan. Finally Liam and Becky added another tag to their
Brown Belts after pleasing Sensei's Tierney and Guy
and earning a 2nd class pass.
September
13th -
The Fusion took a small group of people to
take part in an EMA British tournament. Although the
tournament was small, the competition was tough. Check
out the COMPETITION
RESULTS page
to see how they got on.
July
4th - All of the sponsor money raised by the
Fusion students has been handed in. The event day
itself raised only £59.50 but as a group we
all made a massive £1,541.00 making a grand
total of £1,600.50. This money will help to
fund the Fusions competitors World Championship trip.
Once again we thank all those of you who helped for
your efforts. The highest fund raisers were Danny
Benn, Becky and Michaela Hamilton (combined) who will
be rewarded with free training sessions for a month.
July
1st - As a result of the previous weekends
competition in sheffield, the Fusion got itself a
mention again in the Halifax courier.
June
28th -
Ponds Forge Leisure Centre, Sheffield hosted one of
this years biggest martial arts events. It was so
big that it spanned two full days and fighters traveled
from as far as South Africa and Europe to compete.
Despite an early start to the day and an hours drive,
followed by a10 hour wait with very little to eat,
the Fusion still managed to take home two 1st place
trophies and two runners up medals. It certainly was
worth the wait, especially after the celebrity style
photo shoot and award ceremony at the end.
June
7th - To help raise funds for this years World
Championship trip, the Fusion held a sponsored bag-a-thon,
starting at 11am and continuing for four hours none-stop
on not just one, but TWO bags. Four teams, each consisting
of five Fusion members, took it in turns to go flat
out and hit the bags with everything they had for
either 30 seconds or 1 minute intervals. The effort
and quality of each student made an excellent display
to the on looking crowd filming and photographing
throughout.
The Fusion also hosted an open day with various stalls,
offering refreshments and games for all the participants
and their supporters to test each other on. Many prizes
were won, the best of which was a
punch bag, signed by the three World Championship
contenders.
This was taken away by Jacob Lodge with
an impressive win on the Wii Sports Boxing.
Although only around £60 was raised from the
open day, the club spirit and moral was raised to
an unbelievable level. The main fundraising should
be given in the from of sponsorship over the next
week or so.
May
16th - A Colour Belt Grading
was held at Fitness Finesse in Bradford. Congratulations
if you were one of the students who passed especially
Andy, Phil and Paul for your 1st class passes.
April
26th - The Valley Open Championships
hosted an interclub competition in Bacup, Lancashire.
The Fusion attended with what was it's biggest ever
army of fighters and spectators. Numerous trophies
were taken away from what had been a successful day.
Sensei Joe Tierney the head of Shorai praised The
Fusion on the quality of it's students and their excellent
attitude. You did your club proud.
February
25th - Yet again the Fusion
stole the headlines for Kickboxing in the Halifax
courier with what was probably it best ever write
up yet. Click on the photo below and read it for yourself.
February
23rd - The Bradford Telegraph
& Argus featured an article of The Fusion from
it's success two weeks previous from the WKA English
Open.
Meanwhile Nick had already moved on to the next national
competition, the WAKO British Championships. This
was held at the 'Ponds Forge International Leisure
Centre in Sheffield. An amazingly well run competition
with a professional set up and fair refereeing (I
know hard to believe, but true!). The outcome this
time saw Nick take another British Title and a trophy
the size of a small tombstone.
Nick now has the option of training in London with
the WAKO GB squad and competing in Austria later on
in the year for another World Championship competition.
February
11th - Fusion fighters were
in the Halifax Courier today showing off their winning
medals from the English Championships on Sunday.
February
9th - Park Lane was the venue
for a colour belt grading. Congratulations to all
who passed, especially if yours was a first class.
February 8th - Sensei
Nick fought hard in the W.K.A English Championships
and as a result, qualified for the World Championships
in Spain this year. Thanks again spectators for all
your support.
January
12th - The Halifax Courier sent
a photographer around to shoot pictures of Fusion
students training to use as part of a promotion for
a 'healthier lifestyle campaign'. What's all the fuss
about anyway? We've been doing this for years, being
healthier's and added bonus for training to be a dragon
slayer.
